SMKDUCF 'SHING SHONG SHANG Day !!' 22 Feb 2008

In conjunction with Chinese New Year, DUCF had 'SHING SHONG SHANG Day' !!!

Today we had a special presentation about how the Chinese characters relate back to the Bible !!
(bananas in the world UNITE!!!)

Banana

As we promised earlier, CF begun at 12.45 pm.

David organised an ice-breaker called 'Bing and Bong.' This game involves two objects, which in this case are books. The hard covered one is called Bong. The soft covered one, Bing.

Basically, Bing and Bong is handed over the selected two people who sit next two each other in the circle. Bing is passed anti-clockwise around the circle. Bong is passed clockwise.

To make things simpler, let's call :

-the selected person who has Bing : A

Bing
As A passes the book to the person next to him, he is to say "This is a Bing."
The person next to them (B) will then ask "What?" to A. Then A will reply "A Bing".
Next, B will pass it to the person next to him (C) and say "This is a Bing."
C will then ask B "What?". B will then turn to A and ask him "What?".
In reply, A will say "A Bing". Then, B will turn to C and say "A Bing".
Then C will pass it to the next person, and the whole process repeats.

{ We know it's a little TINY weeny bit CoNfUsInG but that's the beauty of it.}

The same process applies to the passing of Bong as well.
At some point, Bing and Bong will cross paths, and that's when it gets REALLY really REALLY fun (and even more confusing!!!) :P

The original circle...

But no worries! Because the circle soon grew to this...

Then we moved on to worship !!! This time, it was led by Kah Hoe and his guitarist Keith!!

Then we moved on to today's special message by Joel..
He drew a few examples of the Chinese characters that was related to the Bible.
{But bring a nearly 17 year old banana, he had to enlist the help of Kah Hoe, Aaron & Jen Wei to draw the characters properly... =) }
He explained how each part of a character has its own meaning all relating to some significant Bible events such as Adam and Eve.

SMKDUCF 'I Heart You' Day 15 Feb 08

On the 15th of February 2008 in conjunction with Valentine's Day, DUCF had 'I Heart You' Day!!

heart

We had our very own Puan Cheng (or Puan Tang BH) to speak to us about one of the most talked-about topics in the world- LOVE.

[ The committee would like to say thanks to those who decided to come to school just for CF even though you ponteng-ed in the morning xD ... To those who didn't come for 'I Heart You' Day because Sports Day the day before, pity you guys lar... missed out Pn Tang's love talk Pn Tang and also your Valentine's gift from your CG leaders =/ (bug them for it, maybe they kept some xD) Oh well, don't forget to come next week for Shing Shong Shang Day!! ]

But lets start at the beginning of CF. This is what the classroom looked like at 12.45pm...

Photobucket

But no worries! Because all our members arrived shortly after that, enabling us to begin our CF with our ice-breaker, led by Khye Yuen called teddy bear..
What & how was this game played?
Well firstly, everyone sat in a circle while two teddy bears were passed to the people at the opposite ends.
The bears were supposed to be passed around themselves in circles, the big bear 5 times and the small bear 3 times. The smaller bear will eventually catch up with the bigger bear.
The purpose of this game is to NOT get caught with the big and small bear at the same time.
Right, Daniel & Heang Lee? =)

Photobucket

Pass the bear, pass the bear...

Photobucket

The cute (and poor) teddy bears that became our victims during the game...

Photobucket

Then we moved on to worship, led by David, with his 2 guitarists, Joel & Chen Sern!
We sang:
1) One Way
2) Lord I Lift Your Name On High
3) Above All
4) I Could Sing of Your Love Forever

L-R: Joel, Chen Sern & David..

Photobucket

The crowd during worship..

Photobucket

After that, we had a short talk by Jen Wei, our treasurer, on offering, before our first collection of this year was made.

Jen Wei explaining the importance of offering..
Photobucket

Then we moved on to our message of the day, by Puan Cheng about
'The Six Principles to Godly Courtship'!

The six principles are:
1) Seek counsel
2) Be equally yoked
3) Look for signs of purity
4) Kindness
5) Tested prayer
6) Hang around the well

For scripture reference, please read Genesis 24:1-4, 10-13 & 16-20.

And remember

1 Corinthians 13: 4-8a

4 Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, Love does not boast, Love is not proud.

5 Love is not rude, love is not self-seeking, love is not easily angered, love keeps no record of wrongs.

6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

7 Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8a Love never fails

Puan Cheng stressing her point during her message..

Photobucket

Then Puan Loh came and explained to us regarding the virginity pledge, which was distributed to all the members.
In case you missed it, here's the pledge we received.
Print it out and keep it in your wallet, as suggested by Puan Loh.. =)

Believing that true love waits, I make a commitment to God, myself, my family, my friends, my future mate, and my future children to a lifetime of purity including sexual abstinence from this day until the day i enter a biblical marriage relationship.

So basically thats it, CF ended a little later than usual, but it was well worth it to listen to Puan Cheng and Puan Loh talk.

All members were given a little token by their respective CG leaders.. =)

Daniel, the MC for this week's CF..

Photobucket

Joel also informed the members that new CF starting time is 12.45 pm.

L-R: Pn Cheng, Cik Liang, Cik Lee

Photobucket

Oh yeah, we had a total of 45 ppl today and 4 newcomers =) Welcome!!

So thats it for this CF!
Next week is 'SHING SHONG SHANG' Day!
(you wouldn't want to miss it..)
Please be reminded that CF starts at 12.45 next week..

God bless... =)

SMKDUCF CG Zone Day 1 Feb 08

CEEGEE = Cell Group aka CG lol
DUCF dawned upon a year where it realized itself as a Cell Christian Fellowship following bits and parts of the G12 system,
and that's this year =P

Definition of a Cell Christian Fellowship

A Cell Christian Fellowship [CCF] is a CF structure centering on the regular gathering of cell groups. A definition of a CCF is notably tricky. A cell with cell groups is not necessarily a CCF at all. A CCF must be composed of cell groups and centered around them. In CCFs, a cell group leader is considered to be effectively a Youth Leader or Mentor within the Christian Fellowship.

*Definition adapted and modified from wikipedia =)

CGs need CG leaders
So now i present to you the five new CG leaders!!

CG Leader 1: Lee Jen Wei
CG Advisor 1: Joel Lee

CG Leader 2: Khye Yuen
Assistant CG Leader 2: Cheong V-Ki
CG Advisor 2: Daniel Yeap

CG Leader 3: David Rosh
Assistant CG Leaders 3: Chen Sern & Phebe Lee

CG Leader 4: Kah Hoe
CG Advisor 4: Joanna Ho

CG Leader 5: Aaron Wu
CG Advisor 5: Khristy Choo

The Advisors will be there to help around but not lead the CG =)

Your CG Leaders will be "considered to be effectively a Youth Leader or Mentor within the Christian Fellowship."

The Assistants will be there to help your CG Leaders whenever possible =)

[The CGs will be named by next friday]

Also, your CG is to be like your patrol in scouts, your squad in PBSM/St John, etc etc, in other words, you guys are ohana/family. lol, so, you can expect to have lots of fun together xD

If you don't belong to any CG, contact Joanna/Khristy (5 Jati) to find out which CG you belong to =)

You can also email our hotline
smkducf@gmail.com if you want to find out more details.

Sidetrack a bit yeah...

Just wanna say, we had a RECORD BREAKING ATTENDANCE
this year on CG Zone Day! Praise The Lord =)

Miracles have been happening over and over in DUCF.
God is moving.

We started out with a humbling 30 ppl at January and we're proud to say that we've been growing fatter [fatt] each week =D We recorded a total attendance of 50 ppl on friday = 44 students [all in the photos] +3 students who left early [zzz] + 3 teacher advisors!! That's 20 more happy ppl since the first week in CF xD Puji Tuhan...

We're expecting 100+ to fill SMKDUCF
by June, amen?
so why not begin by grab your friends for I Heart You Day next friday?
lol xD See you there =)

Anyway, now that we have that straight, let's move on to the
CG Zone Day!!

We had a fun time breaking the ice with Aaron Wu leading us to the game "Huh?What?"

How to play Huh? What?:
Form a circle. What? indicates to the right and Huh? indicates to the left. Ohhhh!! means pass to the person you point at.

Huh? What?!

haha, don't stone yet, you'll get the idea
when you see the pictures and the videos.
